It is the dream of any chef to have fresh produce, clean and crispy, that was picked shortly before use, but the team with the Secret Forest resort in Miliou took it even further. They installed a hydroponic system in their backyard. "Now our guests enjoy Farm to Table meals," the owner says.
The resort offers wellness experiences and has a vegetarian kitchen as well, which is why owner Yoni Kahana decided to install a TAKPIT with his resort.
TAPKIT is a 500 m2 hydroponic unit that can produce 6-12 tons of leafy vegetables and fresh herbs per year. It includes a growing system, packing station, and plant nursery. "Now I can grow fresh leafy greens in a sustainable way, as the system enables me to save water and operate ecologically," says Yoni, who just harvested their first leafy greens last week. "And it also saves the carbon footprints of transportation. It is amazing Israeli technology that arrived together with a professional training team from Israel."
Last, but not least, he says it also significantly reduces the wastage of 50% of leaves that come with open-field produce.
