Macfrut 2023: historical edition for the Consorzio di Tutela del Pomodoro di Pachino Igp

The Sicilian Pachino tomato sector is looking ahead to more foreign markets

Over the past 20 years, the Pachino PGI Consortium has focused on promoting and enhancing the product mainly on the domestic market, with great efforts putting its tomato on the map for all Italians. For some time now, the association's board has been aiming at increasing the brand name on an international scale, also thanks to Italy's most important fresh fruit and vegetable fair. On Wednesday, May 3, the Pomodoro di Pachino Igp will be at Macfrut in Rimini with a large stand, during which there will be opportunities to reflect on matters related to the tomato supply chain and tomato-themed cooking shows, from B2B to Consumer Oriented promotion.

"This historic edition," says President Sebastiano Fortunato, "marks the 20th anniversary of the PGI recognition for our Consortium, and we wanted to celebrate it with a large stand, which will feature the best Italian food and wine tradition every day at 12 noon, with Pachino PGI-based recipes created by chef Alessandro Circiello, a famous Italian TV star of the cooking show Buongiorno Benessere hosted by Rai1, as well as a spokesperson for the Federazione Italiana Cuochi (Italian Cooks Federation).

The booth, located in Hall D4 (stand 026), will also host 10 of the Consortium's partners, each with their own customized station: Carton Pack Spa, Casa Verde Italia Srl, Europack Srl, Fenix Srl, Galigroup Trasporti e Spedizioni Srl, Ghelfi Ondulati Spa, HM Clause Italia Spa, Lise Etichette Srl, Promec Srl, and United Genetics Italia Spa. The initiative is co-financed by the Sicilian regional government.

Placed next to Pianeta Rosso - the new format developed by Macfrut and Agroter for the participants of the tomato supply chain - the consortium's space will be a meeting point for institutional guests, industry insiders, and journalists, who during the three-day expo will be able to meet with the different companies of the sector, to better understand the dynamics behind the production and sale of this product made in Italy, universally acknowledged as the red gold of Sicily.

One of the highlights of the consortium will be the special evening organized on May 4, 2023, at the Aqua Hotel in Rimini, with the participation of journalists and operators of the supply chain.
