"The sales of our plastic ducts for soilless cultivation are on the up, both in Italy and abroad in countries such as Morocco, France, Spain, Poland, and Saudi Arabia. Thanks to the high quality of our products and our skilled team, we have strengthened our position on the domestic market over the last year and obtained international visibility," report brothers Giuseppe, Valerio, and Stanislao Caratozzolo, owner of 4ESSE, a company capable of constantly innovating and providing complete high-quality solutions to its clients.
"Our ducts are an eco-friendly solution as they are made entirely of polypropylene, meaning plants do not absorb any type of metal. No algae form either, as the flow is uninterrupted. Unlike iron ducts, cleaning is very easy. Lately, we have also been contacted for flower cultivation."
"Soilless cultivation is an innovative method that enables the cultivation of plants in controlled environments where the soil is replaced by inert substrates such as coir. Our plastic ducts boast lower costs, increased efficiency, a lower environmental impact, and guarantee a higher quality of the final product. In addition, the controlled irrigation system guarantees better precision and uniformity when it comes to the distribution of water and nutrients."
These aspects are confirmed by Alessandro Ciaffei from an agricultural company in San Cesareo (Rome). He will start harvesting the first strawberries from soilless crops equipped with the 4ESSE ducts in late April. "We got to know the company at Macfrut, and part of our greenhouse was destined for the cultivation of soilless crops with ducts. Each meter of duct serves ten strawberry plants."
"We opted for soilless crops to deal with the lack of labor and higher demand, but also to make harvesting quicker, use less water, and consume less energy and fertilizers. We will try to achieve zero-residue strawberries. We have opted for a single row of ducts at the moment, but we will be developing the crop further in the future."
Azienda agricola Ciaffei is also looking to develop green bean cultivation with plastic ducts.
Francesco Mari from Mari Serre designs greenhouses instead, where plastic ducts help environmental sustainability thanks to the lower need for water and no chemicals. In particular, Mari Serre develops projects together with the region's experimental agricultural institutes in order to promote healthy and efficient soilless cultivation that respects the environment.
"In hydroponic crops, 4ESSE ducts help recover water resources (closed circuit) and enable greater control of fertigation. For example, we are delivering systems to agricultural institutes that feature four levels of ducts: a vertical crop is set up that recovers all of the water in the circuit. Various experiments are being carried out, which all have the single objective of safeguarding our planet."
4ESSE has contacts for the purchase of substrates and controlled irrigation systems. In addition, it has recently created a specific page on its website where it is possible to find a vast range of products in addition to ducts and accessories. "Thanks to the new specific page - www.4essesrl.eu/canaline-fuori-suolo - clients can access all the information and products needed for soilless cultivation in a simple and immediate manner. All this constitutes a further step for the growth of our company."
