In December 2022, the Research, Implementation, and Teaching Center for Innovative Technologies in Horticulture of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin was put into operation. The facility allows for precise control of plant growth and development conditions, e.g., automatic control of temperature, air humidity, carbon dioxide concentration, lighting intensity, or plant phenotyping and their nutrition. The newly created infrastructure enables the implementation of research works that, until now, had to be carried out in other research centers or in commercial greenhouses.
The facility consists of several autonomous naves so that it is possible to conduct parallel independent research. There are also laboratories and technical facilities in the same building that enable conducting research commissioned by external entities and didactic research for students of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin.
In its modern experimental facility, the University of Life Sciences in Lublin installed Plantalux LED SMD horticulture lighting. All luminaires are equipped with power supplies enabling smooth power control using the climate computer. The lamps have been divided into groups in the aisles, which allows precise and independent adjustment of the lighting in each of the experiments.
