This is achieved by horticultural means during the planting period in order to ensure that the tomato fruit shape and ripening time are uniform, coupled with the precise control of water, fertilizer, temperature, humidity, and light conditions in a standardized growing environment.
According to the Youyou Sino-Dutch Agricultural Innovation Park, most of the small tomatoes currently sold in the terminal market come from Gansu, Heilongjiang, Hainan, and other places, and the small tomatoes that are produced locally in Shanghai account for less than 10%. In particular, vine tomatoes are planted in Heilongjiang and Gansu.
It takes about 4-7 days for long-distance transportation to Shanghai and then to the terminal. When harvesting, considering the transportation distance, the ripeness of fruits is low.
