Fruit Logistica kicks off

This morning, the large international fruit and vegetable fair Fruit Logistica started in Berlin. Besides fruit and vegetable companies from all over the world, about 150 horticultural technology companies are present with a booth, and even more visiting companies. The day started quite slow and suppliers hoped for a better afternoon.

Most horticultural suppliers can be found in hall 8.1, which is smaller than usual, like many other halls. Yet there's a lot to debate: the energy crisis, of course, and the situation in Ukraine, the high costs of fertilizers and greenhouse supplies, but also much more positive stories: new projects being done all over the world, with a focus on the US, the lettuce industry going through the roof, and new products developed for even better food safety.

Here's an overview of the horticultural companies present at the show. As said, 8.1 is the horticultural technique hall. Also, the Dutch hall, 3.2, is home to quite a few technique companies, as are the Italian and the British regions on the show. Breeders can be found everywhere.
