UF/IFAS has just released a Spanish-language version to the UF/IFAS Blueberry Growers Guide app. You can download the app on iOS or Android.
Users will be able to choose between English and Spanish when using the app by selecting “language” under “settings.”
In addition, by selecting (pressing down for a few seconds on) a “damage,” “cultivar” or “calendar management” information item, the user can see that item translated from English to Spanish or Spanish to English. You don’t have to change the language for the entire app.
All of the existing app modules, including the scouting guide, cultivars module and monthly management calendar will now have all information available in both English and Spanish.
“Many Florida growers, farm managers and field personnel speak Spanish as their first language, and in some cases, the communication between producers and managers or labor can be difficult,” said Doug Phillips, UF/IFAS statewide blueberry Extension coordinator.
“Our objective in developing a Spanish-language version is to make the resources in the Blueberry Growers Guide app even more useful for all people involved in the process,” Phillips said. “Also, the ability to quickly see a translation of an item will allow more productive discussions between users with different primary languages.”
