After a 2-year hiatus, CPMA’s annual trade show will be held in Montreal next week from April 5 - 7. Canadian greenhouse grower Mucci Farms is excited to return. “Our industry is largely relationship based, and we really get to know people at trade show events. With so many of us recently coming out of various restrictions due to Covid, we are expecting an enthusiastic group of attendees,” says Dan Branson, Senior Director of Business and Product Development with Mucci Farms. In the meantime, the company has developed several new products that will be on display in the booth as well as in the New Product Showcase. They include:
- Hot Shots Mixed Hot Peppers for New Product.
- Cherto Gourmet Cherry Tomatoes for Snackable.
- Organic Grape Tomatoes for Organic.
- Linerless Label Series for Packaging.
Hot peppers
“Hot Shots are a series of best-in-class hot pepper varieties that are consistent with consumer demand,” shared Branson. The program is bolstered by Scoville Scale favourites such as Carolina Reapers, Scorpions, and Ghost peppers but Mucci Farms offers a wide variety that can accommodate casual spice fans as well as the courageous intense heat lovers. “We are always focused on efficient packaging and our Hot shots are centered around our 2.8 and 4-ounce options that maintain product integrity through the supply chain as well as help to reduce food waste.” These formats are believed to provide consumers with enough product to experiment with their culinary adventures without having to dispose a large quantity should the heat level exceed desired results.
Gourmet cherry tomatoes
Mucci Farms has been offering its Cherto Gourmet Cherry Tomatoes for a couple years and due to its success, packaging and format options have expanded. “These award-winning cherry tomatoes on-the-vine have been a huge hit over the past few years, often garnering the distinction of “Mucci Farms’ best tasting snack tomato,” shares Emily Murracas, Director of Marketing. “This, in combination with a consistent increase in demand for snack food offerings, motivated us to offer them in a loose format in a 1-pint snack sized top seal container.” Alternative to the practical snack-sized option, Cherto tomatoes are also offered in Mucci Farms’ award-winning Paper Top Seal pack that emphasizes sustainability by replacing the plastic lidding film with paper.
Linerless Label packaging
The main highlight at CPMA is the latest edition of Mucci Farms’ award-winning lineup of sustainable packaging options. The Linerless Label series of trays are made from food grade kraft paperboard and fastened by a one-piece linerless label lid that is made from food approved paper label material. The series will feature a variety of Mucci Farms favorites. “It’s a very appealing package functionally and aesthetically. Marketers and merchandisers will love it because it really pops on store floors as well as e-comm platforms,” said Murracas. Linerless Label packaging series is currently being trialed in select stores to gauge feedback from retailers, merchandisers, and consumers.
In addition to showing a wide array of new products and product extensions, Mucci Farms is an annual sponsor of the relaxation lounge at CPMA. “This year, in the spirit of reuniting, the lounge will be known as the “Reconnect Lounge” where everyone is encouraged to reconnect, recharge, relax, and refresh. Charging stations as well as refreshments will be available. Attendees can also have fun by putting some color back in the world of produce through a coloring mosaic that is built into the tables. Check out the relaxation lounge on the show floor, between aisles 2000 and 2100.
