The Digital Trust Center (DTC) has made €200,000 available for setting up a cyber security center in Greenport West Holland. This center is part of the Dutch Economic Affairs and Climate Change Ministry. This security center will become the West Holland horticultural cluster's regional cybersecurity issues expertise hub.
Its main function will be to provide relevant, clear information. Companies can then take measures to prevent cyber incidents. This is important because there is still much to learn. At the same time, businesses are facing a major task, especially in the innovative horticultural sector. There, entrepreneurs are working hard on digital solutions. It is also strongly chain-dependent. That is according to a press release from the South Holland province. This province is a partner in this Greenport West-Holland Cyber Resilience Center (CWC).
Cyber security roadmap
Cyber resilience demands cooperation between the business community, knowledge institutes, and authorities. The province and several partners are focusing on regional cyber awareness and resilience. They will formulate a cyber security roadmap. The goal is to work towards cyber management. Then, threats can be met with a rapid, flexible response. Since each sector has its own challenges, attention is paid separately to them. Lessons learned from one sector can be applied to another.
Greenport West Holland Cyber Resilience Center
Horticulture is one of the sectors where concrete steps are now being taken. In 2020 and 2021, the Province of South Holland granted various subsidies to Greenport West Holland, Security Delta (HSD), and the Haagse Hogeschool. They worked together with regional partners towards a cyber awareness center.
The research is complete, and the first cyber awareness activities have been organized. A "coalition-of-the-doing" has also been formed. With the promised €200,000, the Greenport West Holland Cyber Resilience Center can get started in February 2022.
