"We hope to let more fruit and vegetable producers see the benefits of smart mobile cold storage"

Fruit farmers in southern China begin their harvest when winter approaches. Pre-cooling storage facilities have become a regular sight in fruit production areas, especially for lychee, Chinese bayberries, and cherries. Many traders who grow and process fruits and vegetables pay close attention to pre-cooling solutions. Sun Changguo, chairman of Beijing CIMC Smart Cold Technology Co., Ltd., recently shared his insight into the advantages of smart mobile cold storage as well as current market developments.

Mr. Sun first introduced the emergence of smart technology in the cold storage industry as well as current conditions in China and abroad. When asked about the competitive strength of Beijing CIMC in terms of technology, Mr. Sun replied: "The smart mobile cold storage we developed is based on IoT technology. Information is monitored and processed by AI. The technology integrates specialized management systems and targets the storage needs of different product varieties. Clients do not need to understand the complexities of cold storage and regular storage. This system, once installed, will guide the client through all difficulties and problems in the process. Smart mobile cold storage improves cold supply chain efficiency and product quality and reduces waste. At the same time, this technology enables track-and-trace services for every step of the supply chain. Smart mobile cold storage offers a comprehensive and integrated cold supply chain solution that reduces the operation costs for farmers and guarantees the freshness and product quality of fruits and vegetables."

Mr. Sun also explained the differences between traditional cold storage and mobile cold storage. "Mobile cold storage can be dissembled and quickly reassembled. This technology allows for mobile, reusable cold storage solutions. Clients can set up their cold storage facility based on actual needs and quickly add cold storage capacity in response to market developments. Traditional cold storage facilities are considered buildings and require permission from the planning department, fire department, and state administration of work safety," said Mr. Sun.

"By comparison, our smart mobile cold storage is considered a container installation that only requires a hard surface and an electrical connection to function. The smart mobile cold storage does not require inspections. Mobile storage can be installed according to actual needs, which saves money and time."

Mr. Sun concluded with a description of the smart mobile cold storage container: "We use standard 20/40ft shipping containers. These containers are flexible. they can be secured in place and easily swapped out with identical containers. The containers are highly efficient and easy to install, which saves on labor costs. The investment cost over the duration of its 'lifecycle' is lower for smart mobile cold storage than traditional cold storage," explained Mr. Sun. "Smart mobile cold storage is very popular with lychee, Chinese bayberry, and cherry producers in Shandong and Guangdong. In addition to agricultural areas, we also supply smart mobile cold storage to wholesale markets, for example, in Hunan. And wholesale traders have given us great feedback on the mobility, recyclability, and ease with which the installation is disassembled."
