Already working as 6th generation growers, brothers Stefan and Daniel are active in vegetable cultivation, together with their parents Friedrich and Rosemarie Schulz. Today, they run a bell pepper and a herb farm in the Großes Meer estate., which are close to each other, but physically separated. The products are marketed through Gartenbauzentrale Papenburg eG.
In addition to the usual kitchen herbs, mixed herbs such as wood dock, coriander, lovage, tarragon, burnet, and more are being grown organically. The use of beneficial insects is being actively pursued, the fertilizer water is recirculated and heat is used from both proprietary sources and power plants. This way, temperatures in the greenhouses can be kept constant, in order to provide the herbs and bell pepper plants with optimal growing conditions.

Sustainable cultivation
Sweet peppers have been grown and harvested here since 2018.
Harvesting of the vegetables starts at the end of March, with the
plants grow to a height of approximately 4-5m by the end of the season in November. Bumblebees are used for pollination. The bell pepper cultivation work and herb shipments can be carried out thanks to the infrastructure and the efforts of the harvest team working both farms.
