Plastic packaging for fruit and vegetables

The Association for Consumer Information has been surveying the proportion of packaged fruit and vegetables in supermarkets or discount stores since 2019. The average was higher than 60%. At the time, retailers wanted to reduce the plastic content. However, a new survey shows that the rate is still at 57%.

A total of 1,691 individual items were examined in 56 stores. 67% of them were packaged - the same number as in the previous year. Plastic made up the majority of the packaging material.
