Thirteen new pipe rail trolleys for Vitom cucumber nursery

Westland cucumber grower Vitom recently made a move  by purchasing no less than thirteen new Berkvens GL-D pipe rail trolleys from Steenks Service. Vitom, located at the Kreekrug in De Lier, now has a brand new fleet.

In 2017, this cucumber grower switched from cherry tomatoes to cucumbers and is now also a grower of Green Diamonds. In 2021 Vitom will have a cultivation area of 29,000 m², so new tubular rail wagons will also be very welcome.

Switch to brand new GL-D tubular rail trolleys
Vitom already had existing tubular rail trolleys, but after years of use they finally needed to be replaced. "The previous vehicles were ten years old and were beginning to require more and more maintenance. Also, the batteries were getting worse and so we wanted everything to be just right again so we wouldn't have any downtime," says Rob Groenewegen of Vitom.

The new machines have been in use for a while now and are very satisfactory. "The new pipe rail trolleys look strong and drive nicely and with good speed."

Also, the closed drive of this new GL-D tubular rail car series ensures that there is less chance of rope ending up between the wheels. "All employees are very happy with it."

New Berkvens pipe rail trolley series
The new pipe rail trolleys delivered to Vitom are completely new models. The new GL-D pipe rail car series was launched in February 2021, together with the latest models from Berg Hortimotive. This new generation of piperail wagons complies with the latest required legislation and regulations and various innovations have been implemented.

"The new pipe rail trolleys have been developed to be low-maintenance and easy to use, so that crop protection work can be done as efficiently as possible. The GL-D series is available in two different platform heights, namely 350 cm and 500 cm. This makes these new tubular rail trailers ideal for every vegetable grower who wants to carry out crop protection work in his greenhouse," says Wouter Steenks of Steenks Service.
