The heads of government of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states have decided to take coordinated measures to prevent the introduction and spread of three crop diseases: tomato brown rugose fruit virus, Pepino mosaic virus, and tomato spotted wilt virus in the EAEU. The appropriate decision was reached at the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Kazan on 29-30 April with the participation of Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission said.
“The EEC looked into this issue and decided that it is advisable to control the presence of these viruses in seeds, planting material, and fruits. This will help ensure phytosanitary security of the EAEU,” the press service noted.
