In determining the winners, a few other parameters were taken into account as well, like the percentage of crop loss, cultivation results, and general quality of the end products. In previous years, the winners were chosen in the Netherlands, but this year for the first time, customers from all over Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg were eligible. Due to the outbreak of the corona crisis in early 2020, the announcements of the winners of the Huwa-San Water Quality Cup 2019 have faded somewhat into the background. But delay does not have to mean cancellation.
In the vegetable cultivation category, the Huwa-San Water Quality Cup 2019 went to cucumber grower Alaerds Allegro, located in Hegelsom (the Netherlands). Manager Gerben Alaerds has two greenhouses at this location that together form a cultivation area of 8 ha. The company has been using Huwa-San for 3 years now and has seen the pathogen pressure drop sharply during this period. During these 3 years, the water quality over the entire water system was periodically checked by Roam Technology.
