Webinar “Breeding for sustainability?”

Do plant breeding objectives in public and private research correspond to the EU’s Green Deal and Farm-to-Fork Strategy?
Innovative plant breeding technologies and products may help to speed up the introduction of traits that support and increase sustainability of the agri-food chain. Clearly, this also depends on possible regulatory, financial or other barriers that influence the uptake of such new methods by product developers and users.

Speakers:

– Garlich von Essen, Secretary General of Euroseeds
– Herbert Dorfmann, MEP and Rapporteur on the Farm to Fork Strategy
– Jannes Maes, President of CEJA

Moderation:

– Elena Cavallone, journalist from Euronews

The session will provide an overview on specific breeding targets in both public and private research, analyse in how far these correspond to sustainability objectives, and look at possible limitations for a faster market introduction.

This webinar is organised in the framework of the 6th edition of the EPP European Congress of Young Farmers and supported by Euroseeds.
