Jack Mooney new part of Roelands team

"It's wonderful to be a part of this dynamic team"

Adrian and Jodi Roelands, owners of Roelands Plant Farm Inc., have beefed up their ranks with the addition of Australian grafting specialist, Jack Mooney.

Following the opportunity to move to Roelands in June, 2020, Mooney left his position as Nursery Manager at Costa Group Australia, a role he held for four years. During his time at Costa, Mooney developed grafting methodologies that were met with a much higher success rate. Mooney’s focus was on people and training, whilst championing sophisticated climate rooms utilising LED healing strategies.

Since beginning his role as Grower and Business Management Intern, Mooney has been working with Roelands to deliver premium plant propagation across North America. Currently, Mooney and Roelands are working to propagate and deliver quality plants to the vegetable growers in the rapidly expanding Leamington area, following the significant increase in greenhouse construction in the area. To meet the needs of these vegetable growers, and cater for the high demand, Mooney and Roelands are focused on constructing three more acres of their world class, cutting-edge ebb and flood cascade table growing system.

Based in Ontario, Canada, Roelands deliver and service North American clients with quality seedlings. With a commitment to growing high quality plants, Roelands uses biological pest management practices and high-tech growing facilities. With the company thriving on innovation and focusing on continuous improvement, Mooney is excited to be a part of the forward thinking team.

“It’s wonderful to be a part of the dynamic team here at Roelands. It’s a very fast-paced and encouraging working environment that helps everyone to think like an owner and strive for continual improvement. I really appreciate how committed the company is to their agricultural roots and working hard to do more with less. It’s a privilege to be a part of the winning team that endeavours to be leaders into the changing future of farming.”

Mooney is in the process of finalising his PhD in herbaceous grafting at UNE. He was also voted Most Interesting Presenter at the 2019 Grodan International Propagation Seminar. Mooney presented again this year along with Head Grower Ed Thoren, to discuss the recent innovations at Roelands.
