In 2006, Kam’s Growers Supply was established as a ‘one man show’. Now, having grown ever since, they are working with eighteen people, at two locations in Ontario, Guelph and Kingsville. Their portfolio consists of fertilizers, crop protection, growth regulators, shade paint, sanitation and disinfectants, and, most recently, biologicals.
These products are shipped nationally, while Kam’s focusses on greenhouse vegetables and floriculture, nurseries and commercial mushroom production. “We are always on the lookout for new or improved solutions for our growers, and staying connected is key in learning what their challenges are and how we can help.”
Peter Wall, President of Mid Valley Growers in Leamington, Ontario said that “Kam’s is always there, around for me and my operations. Many times, in a snap they were able to get me what I need. Always easily and effortlessly. They work like an extension of my own company, very efficient and professional. I highly recommend them for their fertilizer, biological control, chemicals and service.”
Biologicals
The biological line includes all ‘usual’ biological control organisms for insect pests in vegetables, ornamentals, soft fruit and berries, including Cucumeris, Persimilis, Encarsia and Swirskii. About a year ago, Kam’s started working with Bioline AgroSciences to supply the control agents in Eastern Canada. Kelsey Vince, Technical Sales for Kam’s in Kingsville, says Bioline is known for high-quality biologicals and unique, patented release systems such as the Blister Packs and Bugline strips. “The Bioline Persimilis (Phytoline), for example, is more active, more aggressive and more effective in controlling spider mites.”
Trade shows
The distribution of these products was launched last year at the Canadian Greenhouse Conference, meaning that Kam’s now has worked with them for a year. This year at the show, they would have taken the opportunity to take attendees on a tour of kams.ca, their site for online purchasing and a resource for product labels, SDS’s and brochures. Kam’s is sponsoring the Wednesday, October 7th afternoon virtual speaker program this year, as you can see here, in the schedule.
Julie Fordyce, one of Kam’s owners: “We will really miss seeing everyone at the CGC, but we have some novel, exciting ideas about how we can continue promoting the biologicals and our other products. We are available to connect with customers on whatever terms work for them. We are always working hard to make growing easier.”
