Supplies of greenhouse peppers and tomatoes from Mexico look to be even right now.
Kingsville, ON’s Red Sun Farms, which is bringing in these supplies, will highlight its Sweetpops, Sweetpeaks and Sweetpeps products at this year’s PMA Fresh Summit taking place virtually October 13-15. “These have the very best flavor intensity, combined with fun packaging to connect with our consumers,” says Red Sun’s Leona Neill. She notes that this premium snacking line is aimed at kids and young professionals.
While the company supplies product year-round, Neill notes there are some small fluctuations in supply. “While we do see some variation in supply, primarily driven by crop yield, our focus is to always be in season,” she says. She adds that demand for the Sweets Family line continues to grow which in turn supports the company’s investment in acreage in Mexico, the U.S. and Canada.
Connecting and reconnecting
As for the show, Neill says visitors to the company’s marketplace page will see company innovations including its new sustainable labels. “This new technology developed by Yerecic includes wash-away technology and has passed Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) Critical Guidance testing,” says Neill.
Along with focusing on these solutions, Neill says Red Sun hopes to reconnect with existing and new customers as well at the show. “PMA has always been around connections. And although we’ll be connecting virtually, our team is excited to have the opportunity to share our latest updates and new partnerships,” she says.
