Agreement between Moalri and Global Plant Genetics Ltd

Two new blueberry varieties

Despite this very peculiar year, Molari Berries & Breeding has decided not to stop and to look at the future with renewed enthusiasm thanks to the excellent work carried out by Gilberto Molari over the past few years.

The company, which is currently run by brothers Matteo and Luca together with collaborators Alessandro Gualandi and Monia Dell'Ara, decided to focus on widening its range. Jacopo Giuliani was recently hired as nursery assistant and will support Gualandi in the technical and agronomic management of the company.

"Molari is not only synonym with raspberries, although its main varieties are grown all over the world and its genetic improvement project represents the beating heart of the company. We focus on all berries. This is the moment to think about the crops for the next season and, today, we want to talk about blueberries. Thanks to the exclusive partnership with British company Global Plant Genetics Ltd, we have had the chance to propagate and sell two new interesting varieties part of the Oregon Blueberry Farms and Nursery program - Titanium and MegasBlue," explains Matteo.

Titanium: early ripening variety (approx. 1 week earlier than Draper). Erect and compact plants. Generally blossoms between early April and the end of the month, while harvesting starts during the first week of July and continues for 3/4 weeks. Compact fruits, resistant to handling, large (17-20 mm) and with a light blue color, excellent bloom.

MegasBlue: intermediate ripening variety, same period of Bluecrop but with a more concentrated harvesting period. Semi-spread vigorous plants, with harvesting starting during the third week of July. Large compact fruits resistant to handling.

These two varieties represent an improvement compared to the ones already on the market. Molari has various formats available to provide all clients with the ideal solution to achieve the best orchard.
