According to data from Andalusia's Prices and Markets Observatory on the region's main vegetable exports to the EU in the 2019/2020 campaign, tomato exports have been slightly reduced compared to the previous season, with 3% fewer kilos exported, even though the value of those exports remained the same. Over the months, we see a similar picture to that of the previous season, but with a slight decline in exports in December and March.
At the same time, Andalusian pepper exports increased by 10% in terms of volume and by 4% in terms of value. The monthly development is comparable to that of the 2018/2019 season.
Cucumbers also performed better than last season, with a 4% growth in terms of volume and an 11% rise in terms of value. Although similar to last year's, the monthly exports to the EU increased in November.
As for zucchini, 15% more kilos were exported and the turnover increased by just 3%, mostly due to the fact that the average price on the European market fell by 11% compared to the previous season. The exports of Andalusian zucchini to the EU increased slightly in the months of October, November and December.
Meanwhile, eggplant exports increased in terms of volume (+9%), although the value was lower than last season (-10%). Exports fluctuated little between November and March.
Lastly, green bean exports increased by 20% in volume, while their value fell by 13%. In every month, except for October and December, export figures were different to those of 2018/2019. The export of green beans to destinations outside the EU is insignificant.
