Figures of greenhouse vegetables in Russia

According to the operational data of the regional agro-industrial complex management bodies, as of June 2, 573.8 thousand tons of vegetables were harvested in winter greenhouses, which is 28% higher than the 2019 figure (448.6 thousand tons). Of these, the yield of greenhouse cucumbers is 386.7 thousand tons (+ 26%), tomatoes – 177.1 thousand tons (+ 36%).

The Lipetsk region (62.8 thousand tons), the Moscow region (48.9 thousand tons), the Volgograd region (36.5 thousand tons), the Krasnodar Territory (36.2 thousand tons) became the leaders in the cultivation of greenhouse vegetables. Stavropol Territory (32.5 thousand tons).

In recent years, the greenhouse vegetable growing industry in Russia has been demonstrating a significant investment boost. In 2019, in agricultural organizations and peasant (farmer) farms, including individual entrepreneurs, the gross harvest of vegetables in winter greenhouses amounted to a record 1.14 million tons. This is 14% more than the results of 2018 and 26.7% higher than the average over the past five years. By 2025, it is planned to produce 1.6 million tons of greenhouse vegetables.
