The price of greenhouse tomatoes in Poland continued to fall this week, despite a reduction in the supply on the market, say analysts of the EastFruit project. Representatives of Polish greenhouse plants reported that the demand in this segment is very small, which has prevented producers from keeping prices at last week's level.
In most cases, prices had to be reduced in order to boost sales and avoid the accumulation of unsold products in warehouses. So, at the moment, tomatoes from local greenhouse plants are offered for $0.74-0.78 / kg, which is on average 10% cheaper than at the end of the previous working week.
It is worth noting that at the moment, the price of Polish greenhouse tomatoes is on average 10% cheaper than in the same period last year. Market participants are confident that under the current conditions, greenhouse plants are unlikely to be able to maintain the current prices of their products for a long time, and that they may again noticeably decrease in the near future.
