Greenhouse cucumber prices in Poland continue to fall quickly and already stand below those of the same period last year. This was reported by analysts of the EastFruit project.
According to market participants, there are several reasons for this situation. Firstly, the supply of these products on the market has been excessive. At the same time, buyers have often not been satisfied with the quality characteristics of the products offered, which has led to a slowdown in trade and purchasing activities.
Given these factors, traders have been forced to push prices downward in order to increase sales. Cucumbers are currently being sold for $ 0.48-0.60 / kg, which is on average 35% cheaper than a week earlier.
On average, Polish greenhouse cucumbers are also 28% cheaper than in mid-April 2019. At the same time, market participants do not rule out the possibility of further price drops next week, again in order to prevent the accumulation of unsold products in warehouses.
