The Turkestan region in Kazakhstan supplies about 350 thousand tons of vegetable to the north of the country annually, i.e. 60% of the produce. This year has been fruitful for the growers. In spring, over 40 thousand acres were allocated for the vegetable growing. Now the farmers can collect 200 thousand tons more, which, in its turn will allow regulate the price policy.
“Last year we collected 981 thousand tons of vegetable produce”, shares Mr. Seydzhan Azbergenov, acting as a regional agriculture department head. “Crop acreage amounted to 39 thousand 500 ha. With that, we collected 349 thousand tons of cucumbers and tomatoes. We are planning to increase productivity significantly. Turkestan area is a leading one in terms of the number of greenhouses. Overall, we have over 1000 ha of greenhouses in the area.”
