On November 13th, Enza Zaden Spain shared a space for discussions, inspiration and debate in order to discover the latest opportunities within the sector.
On that day, many new methods and directions led to the same goal: adding value and differentiation in a market which is becoming more and more competitive.
Throughout this process, customers have been a common denominator, those who joined for another year at the House Fair 2019.
Inspiration and Transformation
The day started with 4 conferences on the following topics of this edition: Innovation, Flavor, Sustainability and Convenience. Thanks to the professionalism of the speakers (Dr. Hans Behr, from AMI Informiert, Javier Iglesias from KANTAR Wordpanel, Felipe Fuentelsaz from WWF Spain and Chris Veillon from Pure Flavor), the conferences were met with enthusiasm and interest.
After a gathering of idea exchanges, Enza Zaden opened their demo greenhouse to the public where it was possible to first-hand see concepts and brands that respond to the latest market demands.
Sustainability and Flavor
All of the concepts have been displayed using various areas, 3 in total: Flavor, Sustainability 360º and Innovation.
When discussing sustainability, a must within sector priorities, it is important to mention both environmental and social sustainability. As for environmental aspects, the breeder presented its GreenCumbers and EasyQs concepts in cucumbers, which make it possible to satisfy the current market demand for going plastic-free and zero waste.
The brand Vitalis referenced organic agriculture and a commitment for 100% organic traceability from the beginning; the seed. The real news was the project presentation the company made in collaboration with the Biotec Family and Tomazur Mini Organic.
Flavor was another key topic of this edition, being present in every aspect of the day. Inside the exposition area, flavor was represented by Tribelli, a brand that received the international Superior Taste Awards, presented in different formats such as packaging, size and color this year with 3 additional colors like Chocolate, Olive and Light Yellow.
Moreover, a new generation of Enza Zaden small size tomatoes was presented and it was possible to taste Bosco, Santasty, E15C.50525 and Santyplum. Additionally, there was the opportunity to learn about post-harvest data regarding flavor and durability thanks to studies done in collaboration with the University of Almeria.
High participation and networking
The exchange of ideas and perspectives continued throughout lunch where, apart from catering, a cooking show took place, displaying ways of cooking the breeder's most important products such as: Tribelli, TomAzur, Itsybitsy and EasyQsy.
During the last edition, customers were hosted from Almería, Murcia and Granada and the breeder also enjoyed the company of international customers and colleagues from Russia, Ukraine, Poland, the Netherlands, Denmark and Italy.
On December 11th the breeder will open its facilities at El Albujón (Murcia) with the Leafy House Fair 2019. Also, customized visits are made possible with prior reservations now until spring 2020.
