New partnership will provide integrated post-harvest solutions in NZ and AU

Compac, part of Tomra Food, provider of post-harvest solutions and services to the fresh produce industry, and Sienz, a manufacturer, integrator and service provider to packers of fresh fruit and produce announced they have entered into a partnership agreement for the supply of produce grading solutions in Australia and New Zealand across a range of selected produce categories.

Under the agreement, Compac, part of Tomra Food, will provide integrated post-harvest solutions, complementing its core sorting and world leading inspection systems with Sienz infeed systems, materials handling, and selected packing equipment. The agreement formalizes an existing relationship in Australia for citrus, avocado and tropical fruit solutions, and extends those same products to New Zealand, where it also includes kiwifruit solutions. Sienz will be the preferred partner in the supply of peripheral solutions equipment, which Compac will offer as part of an integrated solution. Compac will continue to deliver full sales, project management and service support.

The horticultural sector is experiencing continued growth. This growth is driven by increased export demand, improved varieties, favorable market access, and the demand for safe, quality produce. As a result, packers need innovative packing solutions that meet these requirements while embracing automation in their operation in order to mitigate the risk of labor shortages in production cycles.

This partnership provides a unified go-to-market strategy across Australia and New Zealand in order to meet the evolving market requirements and develop the market’s opportunities. To support this, Sienz will establish project management and solutions teams based in the region - led by industry veteran Craig Hart, who joined the Sienz team in October. These teams will work with Compac to support current and new business opportunities.

Ken Moynihan, CEO for Compac stated: “This agreement is part of our strategy to establish ‘Best-of-Breed’ partnerships in order to offer our customers clearly defined, integrated packing solutions that leverage the very best of what is available globally for each part of the packing process. With this strategy we aim innovate all packhouse functions by relying on focused product development from the specialists within our team and our global partners’.”
