In the spring the new building started with a symbolic first pile: the planting of eight large oak trees. The new head office of VB will be energy neutral, in line with the company's philosophy. In addition, the company will have an atrium in the form of an 11-meter-high glass greenhouse construction that connects the office with the industrial building.
That atrium is being built by Smiemans Projects. "With this atrium, the building gets the look that belongs to the Westland and to the greenhouse construction projects that VB realizes worldwide.
"The new office will literally become a place where cooperation and connection are central. In the contemporary atrium, employees can meet, recreate and do presentations. Innovative solutions ensure that the indoor climate is optimally regulated throughout the year."
The new building will be visible at the extension of the A20 towards Rotterdam and Naaldwijk, so that VB will continue to operate from the heart of global horticulture: the Westland. Smiemans will start construction of the new building at the beginning of December and the actual relocation is expected to take place in the course of 2020.
