Syngenta

Three new bell peppers presented

During the open day at Syngenta, where the latest developments were discussed, attention was not only given to tomatoes but to bell peppers as well. Marcel Vis informs everyone. There were three new varieties he presented: PR09518, PR07473, and Y08385.

But he starts with Gina, the bell pepper that has already started out strong. In 2019 Gina was cultivated on 150 hectares of land in the Netherlands. Marcel: “Soon the variety will have to make way for another, but in the coming weeks we can still profit from the high after summer quality the Gina is known for. Gina has a stable fruit weight of 190-200 grams. Because of its thick layers, the fruits have a higher quality than average. The strong roots make the crop more resilient. Keeping the right temperature regimen is very important when growing Gina in order for the crop to reach its full potential.”

PR09518, with its weight of 180 grams, is mainly qualified for traffic light packaging. The variety is Tm3 resistant.

PR09430 is also resistant to TM3 and Lt. The fruits are 10-15 grams heavier then Gina. Syngenta is on the eve of the second screening of this new variety.

Y08385 – This yellow variety will be sold this year. The fruit weight is 220 grams and is also Tm3 resistant.

Y08804 – A brand new yellow variety from breeding with a fruit weight of 180-200 grams and Tm3 resistance.
