In Vietnam the 2nd edition of the HortEx kicked off this morning. The show has seen serious growth after its successful first edition. A remarkable number of plastic greenhouse builders and substrate suppliers found their way to the show.
Opening of the show by the organisers, representatives from the industry & the Vietnamese government.
Vietnamese growth
During the opening ceremony the growth of the Vietnamese industry was emphasised. Last year the Vietnamese export of fruits, vegetables and flowers grew by 7.9% to 3.8 billion USD. Whereas Vietnam has shown serious ambitions to continue this trend on the horticultural front, horticulture is developing in the area as well. Being based in Ho Chi Minh and welcoming both local as international suppliers, the HortEx exhibition focuses on the growing Vietnamese horticultural industry as well as horticultural guests from other Southeast Asian countries. Last year guests from over 29 countries were welcomed. With various organised bus visits from over 29 provinces a serious number of visitors of the show is guaranteed this year as well.

Today the show welcomed over 2,000 visitors and organiser Kuno Jacobs is hoping to exceed that number with another 500 tomorrow, when groups from China & Singapore are welcomed.
With 21 Dutch companies and a Dutch seminar (this Friday) the Netherlands are broadly represented. Also remarkable is the growth of the plastic greenhouse builders on the trade show. Also the breeders & substrate suppliers are present in strong numbers.
