The company Les Cailloux en Provence offers 30 varieties of old tomatoes grown in the ground. “We have been cultivating those tomatoes for 15 years,” declares Thierry Boyer, director of the company. “At some point, we realized that the French consumer did not like the round tomatoes in bulk, which have very little taste. France is the country of gastronomy. Here, we must offer vegetables of excellent taste quality.”
“Every day on the market, people were telling me that my tomatoes looked nice but had no taste. That’s why we started to make tasty tomatoes,” clarifies Thierry. “Today, people buy our tomatoes because of their taste and we offer top-quality tomatoes. We produce a lot less than some other European producers, but our tomatoes are 10 times better. Therefore, we have to sell them at slightly higher prices.”

According to Thierry, “the old tomato varieties are gaining in popularity on the French market. People prefer them over the other tomatoes. We sell our products to retailers and wholesalers, but also to caterers and to the MIN markets of France.
The company also makes other artisanal products, such as the gazpacho, the coulis of old tomatoes and the orange cœur de bœuf tomato juice in 25cl

Les Cailloux en Provence is a family business, founded by Thierry’s parents, Bertrand and Marie-France Boyer. The company offers different productions, like eggplants (Meli-Melo, Violet and Mini), several varieties of artichokes and lettuce, butternut squash and bicolor zucchinis. All the products of Les Caillouxen Provence are grown exclusively in the ground.
