The sixteenth edition of the HortiContac was visited by over 14,000 visitors on 19, 20 and 21 February 2019. A total of 468 exhibitors took part in the trade fair, including dozens of international participants. That's announced by the organisation of the show.
Parallel to HortiContact was the third edition of the HortiContact Tour, a 2-day excursion for international growers along growing companies and research locations. The excursion ended with presentations from Wageningen University & Research and a visit to HortiContact. A total of 48 international growers took part in the HortiContact Tour.
Where meeting and networking used to be the most important spear points of the exhibition, knowledge transfer and innovation have been added over the past few years. "For visitors and exhibitors, HortiContact is the most important moment of contact of the year, but we want to offer the greenhouse horticulture sector more. That is why knowledge and innovation are important aspects in addition to networking. And there is a need for it, just look at the interest in the innovation route", says Mariƫlle Schonewille, Head of Horticulture of exhibition organizer Easyfairs.

Two new initiatives at HortiContact this year were the theme areas Fossil Free Plaza and Soft Fruit Experience with appealing lectures and pitches in the knowledge pavilions. In addition to an innovation route, there was also a theme route 'HortiPackaging'. "Both the new initiatives and the theme routes appealed to visitors. We want to elaborate on this for future editions", according to Schonewille.
Global interest for Dutch greenhouse horticulture
The third edition of the HortiContact Tour with 48 international participants was another success. The tour is an initiative of exhibition organizer Easyfairs, Uniglobe Westland Business Travel and In Greenhouses magazine. Thanks to the support of sponsors, participation in the tour was free again. The participants from Qatar, Germany, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Russia, Ukraine, Sweden, Mexico, England, Turkey, Israel, Poland and a delegation from Iran visited several greenhouse horticulture and research companies on the first day and saw the innovative techniques in the Netherlands. On the second day they attended lectures from Wageningen University & Research and visited HortiContact.
New floor plan HortiContact 2020
During HortiContact 2019, the new floor plan for 2020 was introduced with various theme areas such as HortiPackaging, Soft Fruit Experience, Fossil Free, Cannabis and an Innovation Zone. The reactions are positive and the first exhibitors have already registered directly in one of the theme areas during the 2019 edition. In 2020 HortiContact will celebrate its seventeenth edition on 18, 19 and 20 February in Evenementenhal Gorinchem.
