Omer Cankara, a grower in Elazig (Turkey), has received government funds and started a cucumber greenhouse on an acreage of 5 hectares. The grower collects produce twice a year from his greenhouse, and his annual production is around 1,750 tons.

The sales price at the grower is approximately 0.35 USD per kg, and he sells his products to all East Anatolian cities. Currently he employs 25 people in his greenhouse and the grower also notes the high productivity he has with 35 tons of cucumbers he receives per 1,000 square meter. The grower adds that his annual profit is around 20,000 USD and points out that the wholesalers in the middle are making more money than he does despite not taking any risks.
