Turkish Minister of Agriculture, Bekir Pakdemirli, recently voiced his support for the adoption of more greenhouse technology in the country.
“Geothermal greenhouses are very cost efficient in terms of heating expenses," he said. "I have been visiting different grower groups and their greenhouses and we need to support and increase greenhouse production in Turkey. Right now I’m visiting greenhouses belonging to Bayburt Group which has 58 hectares of greenhouses, 40 hectares of which is glass greenhouse.
"This type of professional facilities is what we need in our country to increase exports due to stability and high quality of production. If we can increase the number of these facilities, then we can be a more powerful player in export markets.”
