Lumigrow to demo Grow Light Sensor in upcoming webinar

LumiGrow will be hosting a webinar on May 4th to unveil their newest grow light sensor technology in an exclusive demo, and share the latest spectral science research findings. Growers that sign up for the webinar will be able to take this research and apply it as lighting strategies for increased crop production efficiency.

“The LumiGrow Plant Research Group works to define the ways in which growers can use light to optimize their production and achieve specific growth goals.” explains LumiGrow VP of Research, Melanie Yelton, PhD. “As a relatively new field of science, most of the industry relies on lighting recommendations based on rudimentary understanding of horticulture. Our goal has been to work in partnership with leading commercial growers and major research institutions to find better ways to use light for crop production, and we’ve made some exciting discoveries recently, specifically in our tomato, sweet pepper, cucumber, cannabis, herb, lettuce, and specialty crop trials.”

Some highlights that have been achieved in the most recent LumiGrow research trials have been: increased flowering observed in cucumbers, tomatoes, and cannabis; greater yields for peppers with firmer and sweeter fruit; reduction of powdery mildew in cucumbers; discovery of optimal supplemental LED light intensity for strawberry production; as well as increases in height and weight of tomatoes by adjusting photoperiods. Additional impacts of LED lighting strategies explored include morphology, flowering, root development, and flavor.

LumiGrow will also be giving a demonstration of their new grow light sensor technology. The grow light sensor works in tandem with LumiGrow LEDs and the SmartPAR Wireless Control System to target the precise amount of light that a plant receives. By specifying precise light levels, greenhouse crops can experience perfect lighting conditions regardless of changes in weather or other light-limiting factors. “The LumiGrow Grow Light Sensor is really the next logical step in smart horticultural lighting. There’s really nothing easier than having the sun manage your lights.” notes LumiGrow CEO, Shami Patel.

The webinar is intended to be useful for growers of all crop types. “We already understand how growers can better use their existing lighting to achieve more robust growth.” informs Melanie. “What we’re doing is taking an informed approach towards making further discoveries, so that we can continually give the best recommendations that help our growers achieve specific goals.”

The webinar will take place on May 4th at 10:00 AM PST.

For those that sign up, but can’t make the webinar, LumiGrow will email supplemental information, so you can stay up-to-date on the most recent spectral science advancements.
