China: First fruit auction centre opened

Located in the Songshan industrial park, the Shandong Xixia Fruit Auction Centre was funded in 2013 by the China Fruit Marketing Organisation, Yantai Huteng Real Estate and Xixia Defeng Food. With a total sum of 207 million RMB, this first Chinese fruit auction centre was built in Shandong on an area of 12.2 hectares as an authorised auctioning centre for selling fruit products from the source. The auction centre is estimated to trade an annual volume of 600,000 tons with a value of 3 billion RMB.
