Cauliflower up 22%

Poland: Significant increase in veg production

This year, the Central Statistical Office of Poland expects vegetable production to significantly increase, according to sadyogrody.pl. Polish vegetable production is expected to reach 4.4 million tons, an increase of 17% year-on-year with the sharpest increase to be observed in the cauliflower segment: up by 22% to 236,000 tons.

Production of traditional vegetables will almost reach 2.8 million tons, a rise of 18% compared with 2015. In particular, Polish growers are expected to harvest more than 1 million tons of white cabbage (+17%), 346,000 tons of table beets (+17%), 346,000 tons of carrots (+17%) and 630,000 tons of onions (+15%).

Cucumber production will grow by 19% to 263,000 tons, and harvested volumes of tomatoes will be 10% higher than total 260,000 tons.

Market analysts connect a rise in Polish vegetable production with more favorable weather conditions this year.
