Netherlands: Yellow anthuriums for Easter
Photo: RijnPlant. The "Picasso" concept
Commercially speaking, Easter is one of the peak periods in the ornamental trade. When talking about Easter, many will think of crocuses, daffodils and tulips, but customer also seems be interested in other flowers and plants. "You have to do 'something'" says Van der Voort. "Doing nothing is not an option. You have to adjust to the needs of the customers. This certainly counts for Mother's Day and Valentine's Day, but now also for Halloween and Easter.
Picasso
Over the last few years, Rijnplant experimented with painting anthuriums. From this, the Picasso concept originated; a concept named after the master painter Pablo Picasso. "So far, it is not possible to grow yellow anthuriums. However, the possibilities for the future are not excluded."
