Australia: Robotics to play major role in vegetable production

Autonomous harvesting is only a few years away in the world of horticulture robotics, scientists say.

Key horticultural growers, researchers and commercial partners were called together to help determine the direction of research and development in on-farm mechanisation in Melbourne today.

Research from universities across Australia, as well as government, was presented at the Horticulture Innovation Australia and AusVeg workshop to help determine future investment.

The workshop was aimed at identifying industry priorities for future vegetable levy investment of robotics application.
