Pegasus Agriculture develops hydroponic gardening system taking advantage of artificial light

Pegasus Agriculture has successfully implemented a viable and cost- effective solution to meet our quality food needs by farming vegetables and herbs indoors all year round by using modern hydroponic gardening systems that take advantage of artificial light and growing nutrients.

Hydroponic systems are a solution for modern day farmers, who are technologically advanced and only have limited outdoor space and want to enhance their lives with sustainable farming methods. As we all know, Hydroponic plants do not actually live in soil. Their major means of nutrition is mineral salts and trace elements, components that are easily mixed with water and fed to the root system of the plants.

The growth rate on a hydroponic plant is 30-50 percent faster than a soil plant, grown under the same conditions. The yield of the plant is also greater. Scientists believe that there are several reasons for the drastic differences between hydroponic and soil plants. The extra oxygen in the hydroponic growing mediums helps to stimulate root growth. Plants with ample oxygen in the root system also absorb nutrients faster. The nutrients in a hydroponic system are mixed with the water and sent directly to the root system. The plant does not have to search in the soil for the nutrients that it requires. Those nutrients are being delivered to the plant several times per day.

The method can save a lot of money as the hydroponic plant requires very little energy to find and break down food. The plant then uses this saved energy to grow faster and to produce more fruit. Hydroponic plants also have fewer problems with bug infestations, fungus and disease. In general, plants grown hydroponically are healthier and happier plants.

Hydroponics can be a lot more cost efficient even for beginners, if you simply buy the hydroponics equipment you will need for your system individually and buy it yourself. The system is more cost effective, as you will be able to enjoy the fruits of your labour much quicker than traditional gardening, in the controlled growing systems. Harvest times can be reduced by 50% or more by giving your plants the optimal blend of nutrients and light.
