New tomato varieties and tomato tool presented at Dutch demo days of De Ruiter

Last month, De Ruiter once again opened the doors to its Tomato Experience Centre in The Netherlands. A lot of attention was paid to both new and existing varieties. But in addition, there was also plenty of interest in the taste test using the NIR Brix meter and, last but not least, the digital tomato tool www.welovetomatoes.nl

Lit cultivation is increasingly popular in the Benelux, mostly because of the arrival of different technologies concerning energy. De Ruiter offers growers different quality varieties that do well in additional lighting, such as Merlice, Komeett and Tourance. The people of Philips Lighting were also present to inform growers on lighting tomatoes.

The Tomato Experience Centre is home to as many as 300 different varieties, spread over more than ten different segments. allowing visitors to objectively compare varieties under similar growing conditions.

The open day was held at the De Ruiter Tomato Experience Centre, Strandweg 19, 2691 KE 's-Gravenzande.
