Netherlands: Pepper grower VD Holland takes over greenhouse Stargrowers
Pepper grower VD Holland takes over the greenhouse of Stargrowers. Stargrowers went bankrupt on October 23 because of poor prices in the tomato sector. VD Holland is a relatively young company that is currently growing at about ten hectares. The company is run by the brothers van Dijk. They have been asked to comment on the purchase, but did not respond. VD Holland is a member of PapriCo and sales are made through DOOR.
Selling price is appraisal value
Even before the bankruptcy, the purchase agreement was signed. Could the bankruptcy have been prevented by having the deal signed earlier? "Perhaps," says curator Robert van Moorsel. "But the bank shoot has been the most negligent in this case, and they have very clearly indicated the yield to be sufficient under these conditions.”
The selling price, according to Van Moorsel, matches the appraised value. For the greenhouse, which is five years old and still fairly modern, more people expressed interest. "Ultimately the current buyer made the most valid offer."
