"Are 'Chilly Willies" the "hottest" pepper variety available?"
It may seem strange, but there is a pepper variety, originally from Texas and Louisiana, which is phallic-shaped and not genetically altered. They are known as p*nis peppers and they are quite hot, not only in shape, but also in flavour, as they are ten times spicier than jalapenos. Chilly Willy is the registered brand and its distributing company sells all kinds of products and accessories based on these peppers' outrageous shape.
In Andalusia, Spain, a fan of organic agriculture, Antonio López, has managed to grow this exotic variety. He obtained the seeds through an exchange and planted a few last spring to have a spicy condiment at home. There are three types: yellow, orange and red.
Antonio explains that "the peppers, once the flower settles, keep growing into their unique shape. Once they complete their development, they reach an intense red colour that makes them very attractive."
As seen in the pictures, their shape is incredibly similar to that of a man's virile member; as a result it is an extremely spicy variety and thus caution is advised for their culinary use.
