50 hectare tomato grower grower Jan Gresnigt, Seasun:

"Endurance of Cappricia RZ makes the difference"

After successively growing Cedrico RZ and Mecano RZ, Jan Gresnigt switched to vine tomato Cappricia. According to the grower, this variety provides excellent quality and good production. "The endurance of this variety makes the difference,” says the entrepreneur, who is selling the tomatoes under his own brand 'Esly'.

Seasun grows in six greenhouses with a total area of 50 hectares of various kinds of tomatoes and peppers in Kapelle, Zeeland. Tomatoes however, are the prevailing product. Gresnigt: "The quality of the fruit is definitely the main reason that we cultivate this variety on a large scale. They are sturdy and reliable.”

“We always start under a fixed AC foil and screen. Cappricia is a strong vegetative variety that holds its own, even during the winter. You mustn’t let the fruit get too coarse. 120 to 130 grams is fine, but from 135 grams, the risk of rupture increases. But it definitely is a great product.”
