US: How LEDs can improve propagation and production

Intrigued by the increasing interest in and installations of LED lights? Wonder if LED lights might be worth investigating for your growing operation? Read the Hort Americas’ Horti-Facts report on Integrated Botanics in Mansfield, Texas. Find out why Integrated Botanics general manager Rodney Elliott chose to install LED lights instead of fluorescent and high pressure sodium lights. Integrated Botanics, a propagator of ornamental and edible crops, is using LED lights in its germination chamber for growth control and in its greenhouses for photoperiod control.

For photoperiod control, Integrated Botanics has installed LED lights on its irrigation booms. Elliott said the boom set up gives him the option of using light like an irrigation cycle allowing him to light specific crops throughout the greenhouse.
