Canada: Premier Tech inaugurates its new plant in Rexton, New Brunswick

Premier Tech announced the opening of a new plant integrating the most recent technologies in the sphagnum peat moss industry. The expansion and modernisation of the plant follows the signing of a financial partnership agreement with Invest New Brunswick, for an amount totalling up to CA$1M, and of a refundable loan, of up to CA$1.5M, from the federal government, through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.

In addition to reaffirming the manufacturing presence of its Business Unit Premier Tech Horticulture in New Brunswick, the opening of this installation will lead to the creation of 33 new jobs. This project is the result of a joint effort from Premier Tech’s teams in its equipment and horticulture sectors. Representing a total investment of close to CA$5M, it will allow the deployment of manufacturing and commercial strategies while increasing Premier Tech Horticulture’s sphagnum peat moss reserves in Eastern Canada.

Premier Tech Horticulture ranks among the North American leaders in production and distribution of value-added peat-based products for professional gardeners. Driven by a conscience to preserve the environment, Premier Tech Horticulture is an active player and leader in the Canadian and international movement towards responsible management of peatlands. The company operates 10 plants and 20 peat moss harvesting sites in Canada.
