"Swift price differences in cucumbers in a few days time"

The cucumber price went down sharply in the past week, but has managed to get back up to a level around 26/27 cents. According to Jan Dortmans of sales organisation Scherpenhuizen the supply isn't that big, but the whimsical sales in this holiday period will cause relatively swift price fluctuations in a few days time. "Supermarkets' zest for offers haven't been very big recently."

According to the seller the tone of the market is positive and he foresees a stable to lightly rising market. "There is little competition and there isn't a big supply over the next few weeks. You can see emphatic quality differences between the cultivation which is ending - and which has a poor shelf life - and the new cultivation, which has a fine quality."
