High iron concentration in the slab inhibits manganese and copper uptake

Green AgroControl shares in its newsletter its experience with the OpnamaAnalyse (UptakeAnalyse program). The essenceof this approach of Green Agro Control, is that the uptake of elements iscalculated on the basis of weekly analysis data of drain water. But there is morenews: the company has a new website and joined Food Valley.

Users of OpnameAnalysereceive a weekly nutritional status and an update on the functioning of thecrop, with possible advice. Here are some experiences. There is often evidencethat trace elements are working against each other. As it turns out, a highiron concentration in the slab inhibits manganese and copper uptake. Afterreduction of the iron the uptake of manganese and copper again increased. Sucheffects have also been observed between iron and phosphate.

With high phosphate uptake, the iron supply can be in jeopardy causing the formation of yellow heads. In that case, it is better to offer less phosphate and not to increase the iron concentration.
