Polish tomatogrower realises 92 ha greenhouses

Last year Polish company Citronex Group, well known for the import of bananas as well as owning petrol stations, hotels and restaurants, took over a major tomato producer, PPO Siechnice.

Currently the company PPO Siechnice owns more than 20 hectares of state-of-the-art greenhouses in Siechnice, Poland. Tomato production at the moment stands at around 500 tons per week, 75% of which go to the domestic market with the remainder finding their way to the Netherlands, UK, Czech Republic and Ukraine.

This year the company PPO Siechnice started further investment into building greenhouses, the work is being carried out by specialized companies Certhon and Jaksa. In Siechnice 8 HA and a further 10 HA near the Polish-German border are already being built.

Currently tenders for the new greenhouses are taking place.

This year's investments are only a part of the large project which the Group has planned, the total project will see 92 HA of greenhouses build. The planned completion date is 2015.
