In the 2024/2025 season, California peppers grown in Andalusian greenhouses, especially in Almeria, achieved a record average price, according to a report by Hortoinfo based on data from the Andalusian Regional Government's Price and Market Observatory.
The average price paid to growers, excluding VAT and processing costs, stood at 1.21 euros/kg, 12.04% more than the 1.08 average price of the 2023/2024 season.
Red California peppers achieved the highest price increase (+29.29%), going from 0.99 euros/kg in the previous season to 1.28 euros/kg.
It was followed by the orange California, with an average price of 1.29 euros/kg, 7.5% more than in the previous season (1.20 euros/kg). Green California peppers increased by 7.45%, from 0.94 euros/kg to 1.01 euros/kg.
Finally, yellow peppers recorded an average price of 1.21 euros/kg, 5.93% more than the 1.18 euros/kg of the 2023/2024 campaign.
The data is pending final adjustments, but the trend marks an especially positive year for growers of this vegetable, with widespread improvements in all California pepper varieties.
